History
The Design
Founded in1930, the club celebrated its 75th anniversary last year. The course was designed and laid out by Fred Hawtree and J F Taylor Ltd.

The Countryside
The land is steeped in historical interest which dates back to Saxon times. Legend has it that Henry VIII used to hunt in the park and woodland. The first stages of the existing manor house were built in 1772 and in 1781. Capability` Brown was commissioned to landscape the parkland. The house and park were purchased by the Archbishop of Canterbury in 1807.

Since 1954
The Golf club headquarters have been located around the fine courtyard which used to be the stableyard for the Palace. This was built in 1829.

Golf History
In the 50s the course was the base of four time Open Champion Bobby Locke from South Africa. He is recognised as one of the greatest putters of all time and would certainly enjoy putting on the fine Palace greens.

Recent History

It was equalled by Keeiran Stanton of Woodcote Park in the Men`s Scratch Open in August 2002. Reg had the distinction of holding 8 other course records. In 2003 the club had the honour of hosting the Surrey Amateur Championship. The winner was James Heath, who dominated the competition and was very complimentary about the course. An international golfer with a handicap that has reached +6. James was the winner of the 2004 Lythan Trophy and the English Amateur Open. He set a tournament record of 132 (65/67) to win the 2002 Addington Palace Mens` Scratch Open.
